After Care
Post Treatment Expectations
Following your laser tattoo removal session, it is normal to experience some temporary skin responses as the body begins breaking down the ink particles. You may notice:
Common & Expected Reactions
- Redness and warmth in the treated area
- Mild swelling
- Frosting (a temporary white haze that fades within minutes to a few hours)
- Sensitivity or tenderness
- Mild blistering (not always, and usually small)
- Itchiness during the healing phase
- Scabbing or flaking as the skin repairs
These responses are normal and typically settle within a few days. Blistering and scabbing are part of the natural healing process and show that your body is responding to the treatment.
After Care
Proper aftercare is essential to ensure safe healing and effective fading of the tattoo.
For the First 24–48 Hours
- Keep the treated area clean and dry.
- Apply a cooling pack wrapped in a clean cloth to reduce heat and swelling.
- Do not pick, rub, or scratch the area, even if blistering occurs.
- If dressing was applied, keep it in place for the time recommended by your practitioner.
Blistering & Scabbing
- Blisters may appear within 8–12 hours. Do not pop them.
- If a blister breaks on its own, gently cleanse with mild soap and water, and apply a sterile non-stick dressing.
- Do not pick scabs—allow them to fall off naturally to avoid scarring.
Skincare Products
- Apply a thin layer of aftercare balm or a recommended healing ointment once or twice daily.
- Avoid harsh products, scrubs, acids, retinoids, or fragranced skincare on the area for at least 7 days.
- Avoid makeup on the area until fully healed.
Heat, Sweat & Friction
For 48–72 hours, avoid:
- Hot baths, saunas, steam rooms
- Swimming pools or the sea
- Heavy exercise or sweating
- Tight clothing rubbing against the area
Sun Protection
Sun care is critical during laser tattoo removal.
- Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area until it is fully healed.
- Once healed, apply SPF 50 daily between sessions.
- Do not use tanning beds at any stage of the removal process.
Infection Prevention
Contact the clinic if you notice:
- Excessive or worsening redness
- Pus, unusual discharge, or strong odour
- Increasing pain after 48 hours
These may be signs of infection and require prompt attention.
Between Sessions
- Treatments are usually spaced 6–8 weeks apart to allow the body to process the ink safely.
- Fading continues gradually during this period.
- Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy lifestyle—your immune system plays a key role in ink clearance.
