Fat Dissolving

Deso is a fat dissolving injection that helps treat localised, stubborn fat on the face and body that just won’t shift with diet and exercise. It is a form of lipolysis, a non-invasive treatment which accelerates the body’s natural fat removal process.

The active ingredient is deoxycholic acid – a bile acid which naturally emulsifies and solubilises dietary fats in the intestine. It is a cytolytic medication which means it helps break down a specific type of cell; in this case fat cells, when injected under the skin to give a slimmer and firmer outcome.

Fat dissolving injections are best suited for those maintaining a healthy diet and who are struggling to lost stubborn fat pockets. Once the wall of the fat cells have dissolved the remaining fluid is excreted through the lymphatic system.

The injections are not suitable in pregnancy and breastfeeding, or for people with acute/untreated hormonal disorders (e.g untreated thyroid disease, advanced organ disease (e.g. renal/hepatic failure/liver disease - doctors note required), allergy to the substance or materials necessary for the procedure, severe autoimmune disease, immunosuppression, active infection and Body Dismorphic Disorder (BDD).

Possible side effects include swelling, redness, pain, irritation, allergic reaction, pigmentation, tissue necrosis (very rare) and temporary nodules. There are special aftercare instructions you would have to adhere to and the drainage of the treated fat cells can be improved by adding other therapies (e.g. compression and/or ultrasound).

We want to make sure you feel as comfortable as possible during your treatment! First, we'll measure and mark the area to be treated. To help with any discomfort, we'll use a prescription of 2% lidocaine combined with Deso or topical numbing for Lemon Bottle.

The treatment is administered using microfine needles (barely felt) or flexible blunt ended cannula which painlessly glides though the subcutaneous fat layer. Finally, a massage is given to the area to complete the treatment.

No excessive exercise for 24 hours

Avoid alcohol intake and painkillers such as aspirin for 48 hours before and after treatment (this can increase bruising).

24 hours after treatment gently massage area for 2 minutes morning and night.

A face or body compress can be worn to aid the treatment

Drink 3 litres of water a day to aid the dead fat cells and fat waste to be disposed through regular trips to the loo!

Avoid eating carbs and refined sugars after 7pm. This will help lower inflammation and gives your gut a rest to allow the body time to enter into healing function.
